RAGE Bangkok

Where to stay

Bangkok is enormous, and the single biggest lifestyle mistake visiting students make isn't picking the wrong gym — it's picking accommodation near the attractions instead of near the gym. Fix that one decision and almost everything else about a training stay gets easier.

Commute beats postcard views

A gym that's a ten-minute walk or one train stop away gets used consistently, twice a day if you want it. A famous gym ninety minutes across town in traffic gets used less and less as the week wears on — heat, fatigue and Bangkok's notorious congestion win that fight every time. Decide on a gym first (see choosing a gym), then pick your base around it, not the other way round.

General neighbourhood character

Without recommending specific properties, it's worth knowing broadly how different parts of the city feel, since gyms exist across all of them. Central areas along the BTS Sukhumvit line tend to be busy, convenient and well served by transit and food options at every price point. Areas around Silom and Sathorn skew more business-district, quiet on weekends. Ekkamai and Thonglor have a younger, more café-and-expat feel. Quieter residential pockets like Ari offer a slower, more local pace while staying train-accessible. Areas near Lumpinee Park — a large, genuinely well-known public park popular with runners and outdoor exercisers generally — appeal to anyone who wants easy outdoor roadwork beyond gym walls. None of this is a ranking; it's context for narrowing a search once you know which gym you're aiming for.

Transit over taxis

The BTS Skytrain and MRT subway network cover much of the city that matters for training life and largely bypass surface traffic — during rush hour they're consistently faster and more predictable than a taxi, even over a shorter direct distance. Choosing accommodation within easy reach of a station near your gym, rather than judging distance by map kilometres alone, is the more reliable way to estimate your real daily commute.

Putting it together

Train smart. Combat sports carry inherent risk. Guidance here is general — your coach, your doctor and your own body outrank any website. Gym details, prices and schedules change; verify directly with any gym before travelling.
