Gear for Bangkok
Pack light: Thailand is one of the cheapest, best-stocked places on earth to buy fight gear. Bring what's personal and fitted; buy the rest here.
Bring from home
- Mouthguard — fitted to you already; see the mouthguard guide.
- Wraps — several pairs; laundry cycles are your limiting factor in the heat.
- Broken-in gloves if you own good ones — otherwise buy here.
- Any orthotics, supports or prescription items — specific medical gear is the one thing not cheaper in Bangkok.
Buy in Bangkok
- Thai shorts (better and cheaper at the source than anywhere);
- Shin guards, ankle sleeves, extra tees;
- Replacement anything — gloves, wraps, ropes are everywhere from gym shops to malls.
Heat-specific additions
- Twice the shirts you think — you will soak two per session;
- Electrolyte sachets (ubiquitous in Thai pharmacies and 7-Elevens);
- Anti-chafe balm, zinc oxide tape, and a small skin-care kit: heat plus mats demands it. Why.
